Traditional South Indian Food in Frisco, TX

Chennai Cafe has served Frisco since 2011 with a menu rooted in the cooking of Tamil Nadu and South India. Rice, lentils, coconut, curry leaves, tamarind and fermented batters shape many of the dishes that define this part of the menu. You will find crisp dosa alongside soft idli, sambar, vada, appam, parotta, regional biryanis and curries. While our kitchen also serves an extensive range of North Indian dishes, the food of Chennai remains at the center of our story. It is a menu made for exploring South Indian staples one plate, tiffin or family meal at a time.

Dosa Restaurant in Frisco With Live Dosa Nights

A good dosa brings contrast to the plate: a thin, crisp exterior wrapped around or served alongside richly seasoned fillings, chutneys and sambar. At Chennai Cafe, dosa choices go far beyond the familiar masala dosa. Explore onion dosa, paper dosa, ragi dosa, ghee roast, Guntur karam and kara podi varieties, along with chicken kari, egg and even chocolate dosa. Our live dosa night takes that variety further, with more than 10 dosa styles prepared at the live counter. It is a chance to watch each dosa hit the hot griddle before it reaches your plate, fresh and ready for sambar and chutney.

Start With The Classics

Idli, Sambar, Vada & South Indian Tiffin in Frisco

Some of South India's most familiar comfort foods begin with simple ingredients and careful preparation. Idli brings soft, steamed fermented rice and lentil cakes to the table, ready for sambar and accompaniments. Medhu vada offers a different texture with its crisp exterior and lentil-based center. The broader tiffin tradition also includes savory snacks and favorites such as masala vada, bonda and bajji. Together, these dishes show a different side of Indian dining, built around satisfying combinations of batters, lentils, vegetables, spice and sauces rather than a single style of curry.

There Is More Than One Biryani

Biryani changes as you travel across India, and our menu gives guests the opportunity to explore several named regional styles. Chennai Cafe serves Ambur and Arcot biryani alongside Thalappakattu, Vijayawada and Awadhi varieties.

Beyond Dosa And Biryani

South Indian cooking does not stop at dosa, tiffin and biryani. Chennai Cafe's broader menu draws from regional traditions including Tamil, Andhra and Kerala cooking, giving guests more ways to explore the ingredients and preparations of southern India.

More Ways To Share The Table

Vegetarian cooking has a natural place across our South Indian menu, from idli, dosa and vada to vegetable curries, rice dishes and other meat-free favorites. Vegan options are also available, while guests choosing meat can order from dishes prepared with Halal Zabiha meat.
